back at it

we've actually been in town for several days but i've been a determined vegetable, in anticipation of the work that lies ahead. it begins tomorrow actually - i teach l401tomorrow evening, and have a meeting about a paper that's been accepted to a conference that i helped work on (more on that later!)

our vacation was great - we managed to pack a lot into a week in a completely unstressful way. our first day there pete's brother navigated us into Rochester where we had a nice meal at
jine's. the next day we went into senaca falls where i've wanted to go since i was like 7. we were able to use our national park pass one last time before it expired saw the women's rights national historical park, as well as the Elizabeth Cady Stanton house (a personal hero of mine).

the next day we went down to the lake and had an eventful hike over sugarloaf mountain, an experience which pete outlines. we also relaxed, ate way too much junkfood, pete's dad gave us all a sailing lesson, we picked blueberries, and made a sugar-free hucklebuckle for pete's grandparents, played lots of cards, watched west wing and finally got to play mystery of the abbey. it was a really great time.

it should be noted that pete's brother and i now have a foodblog, tasty_kake, hosted on livejournal. check it out.

i also had enough time to read living history and get some knitting time in. while Hillary is no perfect candidate, I'm beginning to believe that she might make a decent presidential candidate, for whom i would be pleased to campaign.

anyway, so much has gone on since i last updated, especially politically, but more on that later!
